Since most writers (including myself) communicate better on the page than they do in person, I'm always a bit amazed when I see a scribe who also acts. After making a decent name for herself on the indie circuit, Jennifer Westfeldt, who co-wrote and starred in Kissing Jessica Stein, will be re-connecting with producer buddy Brad Zions for another Gotham based comedy, Ira & Abby: A Divorce Story.
The film, which starts shooting next week in Manhattan, is said to revolve around a couple who, after marrying on a whim, ignite a chain of affairs involving their parents, execs and therapists. Westfeldt will star in the lead role while Chris Messina, Fred Willard, Frances Konroy and Robert Klein are also attached. Though the pic starts shooting, like, right now, Westfeldt hopes to fill up some remaining spots with folks from Jessica Stein, as well as cast six celebrity therapists in bit cameo spots. Wait, so is that six celebritys as therapists or six real-life celebrity therapists? Why do I not care either way?
