Pans LabyrithThis somehow totally slipped under our radar, but after a very productive stop in Hollywood (where he made, among other things, the profoundly underrated Mimic and the Snipes-eriffic Blade II), Mexican director Guillermo del Toro is returning to his native Spanish with the horror-fantasy Pan's Labyrinth. Partially designed by William Stout, the movie tells the story of a young girl in Franco's Spain, who "lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin." Based on these early photos, the imaginary world features some pretty damn frightening creatures - choosing between real-life fascism and these things much cause all sorts of stress for that poor girl.

The movie is due out sometime next year; more details as we get them.
