David BowieI really wanted to call this post "The return of the Thin White Duke," but figured non-David Bowie fans might think it was about a particularly skinny royal, so I controlled myself. But he's is back! Maybe! Reports are rampant this morning that Bowie is in talks to play Nikola Tesla in Christopher Nolan's screen version of that incredibly cool-sounding story of rival magicians, The Prestige. Already on board, you may recall, are superhero and mutant Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman.

Richard over at The Movie Blog is worried about this news, because he finds Bowie consistently unconvincing on screen. Me, I think he's a solid, frequently excellent actor - see The Man Who Fell to Earth, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, and the incredibly obscure The Linguini Incident for evidence. What do you think of Bowie in the movies?
