- Guitarist Link Wray was known as "the father of the power chord". His jazz-rock instrumentals made their way into many films, most notably Pulp Fiction (think Mia Wallace slinking through Jack Rabbit Slim's) and John Waters' Pink Flamingos. Wray died in his home in Copenhagen earlier this month; his birthdate is fuzzy, but he was reportedly about 76.
- Pamela Duncan made a name for herself in movies with titles like Attack of the Crab Monsters and Seven Men From Now. She also appeared in a documentary called Curtain Call, about a retirement home for Hollywood veterans. She died at the home last week after suffering a stroke. Duncan was 73.
