Is it bad that I think Rick Moranis is really amusing? Does it mark me as an irredeemable child of the eighties? Ghostbutersand Spaceballs are movies that shine like beacons of cinema from the foggy days of my childhood.  Don’t get me wrong; I recognize that a lot of his movies are terrible- but I just can’t help but like the guy. Anyway, the point of all this is that IGN is kicking off their Holiday campaign, and first up to bat is a special (exclusive) holiday song written and performed by none other than Rick himself. It comes from his album released earlier this year, The Agoraphobic Cowboy. You can hear a few other tidbits from the album if you follow that link, as well.

It’s entertaining, and you know…it’s actually good. It’s rockabilly, bluegrass, classic country, and it’s good. I mean, it’s not fantastic or anything- but it’s certainly fun to listen to, and not just because it’s amusing. He doesn’t really have the proper accent for bluegrass, but he makes it work anyway. He lists the Statler Brothers, Johnny Cash, and Roger Miller among his influence. The lyrics will make you chuckle- and occasionally laugh out loud. I actually find myself entertaining the idea of purchasing this sucker.
