CacheMichael Haneke's great year shows no signs of ending, as his well-reviewed thriller Caché (which will be released in the US early next year as Hidden) received six awards last night at Berlin's European Film Awards. In addition to trophies for Best Film and Best Director, the film also earned recognition for its star, with Daniel Auteuil taking Best Actor honors.

Other major awards went to Julia Jentsch, who was named Best Actress for her truly extraordinary work in the title role of Sophie Scholl - The Final Days, and George Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck, which was recognized as the best non-European film. In addition, Sean Connery received a lifetime achievement award (and, clad in "a tartan dinner suit," took the opportunity to call for Scottish independence).
