In an interview with USAToday.com today,
Eric Stoltz happens to mention that a 20th Anniversary special edition DVD of
Some Kind of Wonderful is in the works. Assuming they figure "anniversary" like most of us do, it won't be out until 2007, but Stoltz gives some tantalizing details on the release: in addition to new interviews with the cast, he's also pretty sure the disc will also feature commentaries from
Lea Thompson and director
Howard Deutch. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only child of the 80s who's thrilled by this news - while
Pretty in Pink is alone at the top of my Teen Movies list, S
ome Kind of Wonderful is certainly in the top five (if only because
Elias Koteas draws his girlfriend without skin).
In other Stoltz news, he describes himself as "not...famous, really," currently in a state of "absolute unemployment," and "a complete idiot" when he was 19. (Granted, we all were, but what sets him apart from the rest of us is that at 19 he was making
Fast Times at Ridgemont High, while we were drinking beer with our idiot friends.)
