Grandmas Boy posterGrandma's Boy, the latest feature from Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, is selling itself based on an official website that you have to be over 18 to visit. Woo hoo! Though I suppose expecting a classy campaign from the people who brought us Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo and The Hot Chick is a bit of a fantasy, this just seems surpassingly dumb. While I can see frat boys lining up to get into a website (which I visited - entirely for professional reasons, of course) that offers a trailer with large, naked breasts, and a clip featuring swearing and masturbation, I just don't see how that's going to translate into a profitable movie - the movie isn't NC-17, after all.

The footage on view, while it actually does contain some legitimately funny moments (though, since I laugh like a hyena at Weekend at Bernie's, you might want to take my opinion on funny with a grain of salt), is ultimately just insulting in the apparent lack of effort it displays. Reviews are going to be terrible, and it just doesn't seem coherently dirty or funny enough to bring in an audience, even of people who dig dumb comedies.

If you're over 18 and really bored, go check out the site and let us know what you think, particularly if you're a fan of Happy Madison's other films - would you be willing to sit through 90 minutes of what it shows you? Even if you can't get into the site, you've only got a few weeks to wait: the movie will be dumped in theaters the first week of January.
