As we reported a couple weeks ago, the Special Olympics actually approved of (and actively participated in) the FarrellyBrothers' production of the Johnny Knoxville comedy, The Ringer, in which a small-time grifter poses as a mentally challenged athlete in order to fix the Special Olympics. Now, the Special Olympics has posted a 7-minute behind-the-scenes which actually features interviews with some of the mentally challenged athletes. The bit also makes it a lot easier to see how a concept that initially sounds in very poor taste can actually work if treated with respect and kindness. The Ringer opens in U.S. theaters on December 23rd. Check back then for a full review.
