Book writing (and Air Force) veteran John Nance has handed over rights to his as-yet-unpublished novel Orbit to Fox 2000, who plan to turn it into a big screen event. Nance has had numerous novels published, usually focusing on the fast paced world of aviation, and is most certainly a literary success. His newest book is a journey into outer space, chronicling the story of a civilian who wins the chance to join a space flight only to find himself abandoned in the great void after the entire crew dies.
Jennifer Klein of Apartment 3B Productions will produce the film, and Sheldon Turner will adapt the book for the screen. The plot for this film sounds like it could be fun in that Apollo 13 sort of way, but there aren’t really enough details yet released to make it sound like anything other than the typical man-trapped-in-space billing. Any Nance readers out there want to let us know what his style is and what we can expect from a movie based on his work?
