It's freeeezing in Austin right now. The streets were icy yesterday and today is a bit better, but still much colder than usual. Austinites aren't used to very cold weather, and by "very cold" I mean less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. It's a good time to huddle in a cozy theater watching movies, and I can imagine that this weekend, Austinites who see The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe will be comparing the land of ice and snow with current local conditions. (Yes, we're wimps in this weather. But we'll tolerate 100-plus temperatures with a smile.)
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Origin, the prequel to the recent remake of the classic horror film, has been shooting around Austin. I'm not sure exactly where and after reading about the set decorations, I would rather not know. MTV News visited the set and sounds a bit intimidated by R. Lee Ermey. [via Matt Dentler's Blog]
- If you live in Austin, you could furnish your entire home from items bought at film-production garage sales. The latest sale is from the film Coyote and takes place Monday 12/12 from 9-5 at Stage 3 of Austin Studios. Um, is Coyotereally Fast Food Nation? If so, I'm not sure what in the world you might find. I may have to check this out.
