Da Vinci CodeOk, I'll admit it: I'm one of those fools who didn't read The Da Vinci Code. I'm a horrible person and a snob and probably can't even read - trust me, I've heard it all. For once, though, this moral failure on my part has come in handy, because it means I'm the perfect person to judge the trailer for Ron Howard's little-discussed film version of the novel. Why, you ask? Well, come on. While we're not exactly ruling the earth, I do have a few companions in my Dan Brown-free life. And, while Howard might think we're all idiots, he nevertheless surely needs us to see his movie - in fact, I'd go so far as to suggest that we're the actual target of most of his advertising. After all, everyone who read the book is going to see the movie no matter what, right? He doesn't have to impress any of you - it's my love he craves. Really.

So, Ron, I've got good news: the trailer rocks. I don't even like Tom Hanks (I know, another sign of my profound idiocy), and I'm totally on board. The visuals are striking, and the movie looks exciting and scary and even a little bit literary. What's not to like?

And now, all you Da Vinci Code readers - it's your turn: does the trailer live up to your expectations, or is my ignorance of the book making me too generous?
