Here at Cinematical Headquarters, we've been awaiting the inevitable Brokeback backlash with a combination of migrane-dread and eagerly bated breath; we very much like the movie, but we love a good, ideologically dizzy fight. According to Jeffrey Wells, the first big battle is going to go down tonight, and it's set to be a big one. Producers for Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor have apparently spent the afternoon looking for a "liberal film critic" to face off against Bill O'Reilly and conservative critic Michael Medved on tonight's show, which tapes about an hour from now. O'Reilly and Medved will lambast the film for polluting the virtue of the American people by "sell[ing] the notion of being gay as a legitimate lifestyle." The poor critic will meekly argue that Brokeback's central romance is actually depicted as a near-impossible lifestyle alternative, before passing out from blood loss as the Fox sharks gleefully munch on his freshly-ripped flesh. Catch the spectacle for yourself: The O'Reilly Factor airs tonight at 8 and 11 pm EST.
