Fans of both self-taught slacker champion Richard Linklater and paranoid sci-fi god Philip K. Dick should check out The Dude's early review of A Scanner Darkly, due for a limited release in the U.S. on March 31, over at Canada's Movies Online. Granted, the review is of a test screening of the film (which may or may not be altered significantly before March), but The Dude flavors his review with a pretty good sense of what the film is like to watch (and likens it to Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas). Of course, if Warner Independent, the film's distributor, ever learns the identity of The Dude, his name will likely be unceremoniously yanked from their perpetual invite list, as the press is routinely excluded from test screenings.

You can check out a trailer of Linklater's latest trip over at Moviefone.
