The folks responsible for upcoming live-action/computer-animated fantasy/comedy (that's alot of hypens and slashes, eh) picture Night at the Museum (20th Century Fox) have entered final negotiations* with actress Carla Gugino to star opposite funny-man Ben Stiller. The film tells the story of a "goodhearted but bumbling" security guard who accidentally triggers a curse in the history museum he works in, bringing all the animals, insects, etc to life. Director Shawn Levy will begin shooting in Vancouver next month, and is panning for a holiday 2006 release.
I enjoy both of these actors a great deal, but I'm not sure yet how I feel about this movie. Stiller has been known, from time to time, to star in lackluster films- although I frequently enjoy these movies anyway on the basis of his performance. I know there are people out there who can't stand the guy; and I won't argue with you on that point, as there's no accounting for individual taste. I guess what I'm trying to say, in my rambling fashion, is simply that I'm reserving any predictions on this film until we get more info on it. Thoughts? Stiller/Gugino fans or haters anywhere want to chime in?
*Final negotiations sounds ominous, doesn't it?
