Variety is reporting a reunion of epic-eighties proportions. Val Kilmer, who played the ever-cool (bad pun totally intended) "Iceman" Kazanski in the mid-eighties fighterpilot hit Top Gun will rejoin director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer for another action-packed film. This one will feature more sci-fi and (presumably) less aviator shades. Cheesy nicknames are still a strong possibility.

Kilmer will star opposite Denzel Washington and a cast that also includes Jim "Jesus the Terrorist" Caviezel and Paula Patton in the sci-fi cop movie Deja Vu, which features two FBI guys who get the chance to go back in time to prevent a major terrorist crime.

Val's hard for a child of the eighties to not think of the man as having some sort of inherent aura of sheer cool. Yes, he has been in some crummy films, and played some crummy parts, I won't argue with that; but I still give the guy alot of credit. His performance as Doc Holliday in Tombstone remains one of my favorite character portrayals in all of movie history.
