The theme song of Ghostbusters is perhaps one of the most widely recognized movie themes from the 1980s. The music simply oozes an 80s feel, and you can't help but grin, bob your head and sing along when you hear it played. However, the movie never earn a score-soundtrack release - until now. As part of their monthly limited-release club titles, Varese Sarabande Records have released Elmer Bernstein’s epic score to the 1984 Ghostbusters film. The sucker weighs in at a hefty seventy plus minutes, and includes most of the original music to the film, in addition to some music which was composed for the feature but didn't make it into the final cut.

It should be noted for clarity that a general song soundtrack was released following the film's release in 1984, but this is obviously not the same as a score-soundtrack. It is honestly rather odd that such a recording was never released, as Bernstein was a well-respected composer and was widely recognized and praised for the Ghostbusters music. Nonetheless, the album finally exists, more than twenty years after the film was released. Better late than never, right?
