As Rob Newton points out in his New on DVD post, The Family Stone came to DVD this week. What's most interesting about The Family Stone as a DVD isn't just the new artwork - which features Rachel McAdams' face in a way that seems far more prominent than does Diane Keaton or Sarah-Jessica Parker's -- it's the fact that the DVD includes a recipe for Morton Family Strata, which figures prominently in the film as a character-revealing device and a floor-moistener for wacky physical comedy, but which we never actually see anyone eat. I really can't recall any other DVD's with recipes on them -- well, aside from Cooking Instructional Titles -- but is this the first one? And if so, what would Christopher Kimball say about their methods?
