Today is actor Tony Curtis's birthday, so I decided to find and share an appropriate photo. He's appeared in over 100 movies, and was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the 1958 film The Defiant Ones. However, when I thought of him, one movie immediately and clearly popped to mind -- Some Like It Hot is one of my very favorite films. MGM is releasing a new special-edition DVD of the classic 1959 comedy in July. Plus, I could not resist a photo of Curtis with Marilyn Monroe, whose birthday was Thursday.

Curtis still takes the occasional film or TV role, and often appears in movie-related documentaries. In 2002, he appeared in a musical stage production of Some Like it Hot, but not as Joe/Josephine: he played millionaire Osgood Fielding III, "that dirty old man" who pursues Jerry/Daphne. Sadly, I couldn't find a picture from the play.

One thing that puzzles me about the above photo: It can't actually be a still from Some Like It Hot, because in the tub scene, it turns out that Curtis's character is fully clothed. It must have been taken on-set, but I wonder if there's a story behind the photo.
