Given the speed and frequency with which Hollywood churns out sequels to anything even moderately successful, you would have thought it was only a matter of time before the Keanu Reeves vehicle Constantinelanded itself at least one more film. Despite meeting with mixed reviews and a relatively poor reception from the comic book community, the flick earned some good cash -- certainly enough to merit a sequel by typical standards. It seems like this may not be the case, however, as Reeves himself sounds rather hesitant these days when talking about revisiting the film. When asked about a sequel in a recent interview, he said only "It's kind of in the air. Maybe. I'd love to, but I don't know if the producers would want to do it ... It's a long story. We've got to figure it out."

Personally, I'd like to see this franchise slip quietly into the realm of the forgotten. Despite my general acceptance of most comic book movies, I didn't really enjoy this one. I wouldn't avoid seeing a sequel, mind you, I'm just not particularly excited by the prospect. What do you folks think? Does Constantine deserve a sequel, and is it dependable enough to make another worth while?
