Many of this week's special screenings and film events around Austin have been seen in town before, during the SXSW film festival. A Prairie Home Companion and Thank You for Smoking are playing all around town. Fall to Grace and State vs. Reed are screening in limited engagements. The Puffy Chair and Wah-Wah continue at Arbor this week, and Cafe Mundi is showing The Fearless Freaks on DVD on Monday night. It's a great week for catching up on those movies you missed at SXSW or maybe seeing them again now that you're less exhausted and stuffed full of movies.
- Locally filmed feature Fall to Grace will play at the Dobie all week long. The film was produced by local filmmaker Vicky Boone, whose short Attack of the Bride Monster has been making the festival rounds recently. Writer/director Mari Marchbanks will attend screenings on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
- Deep Eddy Pool kicks off its summer Splash Party Movie Nights with the 1971 version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Saturday night. You can lounge in or near the pool and watch Gene Wilder do his thing.
