Based on what's popping up around the web, it looks like the press screening for Superman Returns started in earnest over the weekend. As a result, we finally have full, professional reviews to add to the test screening reports that have been popping up for months -- and it looks like the movie is really, really good. In addition to the expected fanboy ravings over at AICN, both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter gave the film great reviews, with Todd McCarthy of Variety describing it as a "most grandly conceived and sensitively drawn Superman saga" that will "rate with aficionados ... on the short list of best superhero spectaculars." Go Bryan! In addition, both McCarthy and THR's Kirk Honeycutt were very impressed by Brandon Routh's performance: To Honeycutt, "There is honesty in his acting where the emotions that play across Superman/Clark Kent's face and body come from deep within." I mean ... damn. Most people go whole careers without getting praise like that.
