Is it me, or does it seem like everyone is after Natalie Portman lately, even though the girl has never given us one better-than-average performance. Here's where you start racking your brain, cycling through all of her films, hoping to prove me wrong. Seriously, name one strong performance from this girl. Closer? Eh. Garden State? An even bigger, eh. And please don't say Star Wars -- I might throw up.
However, Hollywood is convinced this girl is something special, audiences seem to agree and so my opinion of her acting is exactly that -- an opinion. After recently wrapping on Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (which I will see based on the title alone) and currently gearing up for a role in My Blueberry Nights, Portman has signed on to star alongside Eric Bana in The Other Boleyn Girl. Pic, to be directed by Justin Chadwick, is based on the historical novel and tells of two sisters who were rivals when it came to shacking up with Tudor King Henry VIII.
On another Portman front, there's rumors that she is also in negotiations to star as Rosa in the big-screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Author Michael Chabon dished the news on his blog and noted that the future of the project will become a bit clearer on or around July 12. Here, the story focuses on two young cousins who create a comic book superhero called The Escapist. Hmm, I wonder if The Escapist can teach me how to get out of an argument with my wife? That would be neat.
