Here's something you might not know about me -- I've never been in a fist fight. That's correct. Never. In my life. Mind you, I've come close several times. Oh yeah, one night back in college, a group of kids challenged me to a fight over something so stupid I don't even remember it now. Things came real close. Someone pushed me. Security was there. Security did nothing. Security sucked. Long story short, I recall quickly walking away from the scene upon sobering up a bit.

Does that mean I'm not tough? Walking away from a fist fight? I once knew a kid who knocked someone out right in front of me. Out cold. On the floor. In one punch. Everyone said he was such a tough kid. However, he never took a risk. He never had to work hard to pay his bills. He never lived paycheck to paycheck, raised a child or survived a life-altering illness. Thinking back, I'm not sure what, if anything, was so tough about him. In fact, he was probably one of the weakest people I've ever met.

The following films all find tough characters in tough situations. However, each one of them will have to draw upon a significant amount of inner strength in order to navigate their way through trouble.
