If you follow the Ninja Turtles through any of the mediums they've explored (from video games to movies to comic books, etc.), you know they've occasionally used some pretty ridiculous titles. Think about it for a moment: The Secret of the Ooze? And let's be honest, even the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is rather ridiculous on its own. Awesome, yes. But slightly ridiculous. Perhaps the creators of the upcoming Ninja Turtles animated flick were cognizant of this, because the official announcement says the title of their film will simply be TMNT. No, I'm not using an abbreviation because I'm lazy; that's the actual title of the movie. Just four letters. Can't get much simpler than that, right?

Now we call many things by their abbreviated versions. Nobody wants to say American Online Instant Messenger; we say AIM. This is rather standard, right? We do it for many, many products. When you think about it, thought, do you ever actually say TMNT when abbreviating for the Turtles? I sure don't. I'll type it, but if I'm talking about them I never say Tee-Em-En-Tee. It just feels awkward. So when I'm talking about this movie with my buddies, will I have to force myself to say "Hey, I can't wait for TMNT"?
