• Joyce Blair(1932-2006) - British actress best known for TV work; she also appeared in Oh ... Rosalinda!, Yield to the Night; Killers of Kilimanjaro, Crooks Anonymous and Intimate Games. She died August 19th, in California.
  • Fernanda de Utrera(1923-2006) - Flamenco singer who appeared in Flamenco (de Carlos Saura), La Novicia Rebelde, Am I Beautiful? and the documentary Duende y Misterio del Flamenco. She died Thursday.
  • Roger Donoghue(1930-2006) - Boxer who trained Marlon Brando for his role in On the Waterfront and was the source of the famous line, "I could have been a contender." He was also an assistant to Nicholas Ray, and there were plans to make a film about Donoghue, starring James Dean. Donoghue began coaching Dean, but the project died when Dean did. Donoghue is also credited with being the origin of the title to Norman Mailer's novel (turned into a film) Tough Guys Don't Dance, and he appeared in Mailer's Beyond the Law. He died of Alzheimer's disease on August 20, in Greenport, New York.
