Another name has been added to the cast list for 30 Days of Night, as the movie edges nearer to production. Danny Huston has become the new kid on the block, and he'll be playing the leader of a horde of vampires who cleverly try to take over an Alaskan town because of its 30 days of non-stop darkness -- vampire paradise, if you will. Josh Hartnett and Melissa George have already been cast as the dynamic husband-wife sheriff combo who attempt to save their town, and David Slade is the director.

I've never read 30 Days of Night, largely because I'm not a fan of horror genre work, but I understand it to be a great series. The concept of vampires seeking succor in the darkness of Alaska (and admittedly Steve Niles is not the only person to come up with this idea) is a fantastic one in my book, and the element of a vampire hunter imbuing himself with vampire blood to fight back is always an interesting one. I'm not sure how I feel about Josh Hartnett as a super powered vampire hunter (okay, yes I am ... it makes me laugh out loud), but maybe the guy will surprise me.
