Not long after Variety reported that Shia LaBeouf was in final talks to play Indy's son in Indiana Jones 4, the Boy Wonder himself has gone on record a few times saying he has no idea where any of this is coming from. First, at the Sony Surf's Up event, LaBeouf blamed out of control internet rumors for causing the hysteria. Even when asked off-the-record, he stuck to his guns and also told one reporter -- who wanted to know if LaBeouf would be taking on the comic relief role in Indy 4 -- that he was done playing those types of roles. From the Surf's Up event, LaBeouf traveled to SXSW to promote his newest film Disturbia. Of course, the Indy 4 nonsense was already waiting for him upon arrival and, like before, Labeouf denied everything.

IGN quotes him as saying, "Look, there's no deal on the table. If it was on the table, I would love to. It's like a dream come true to be in that project, but it's a rumor at this point. These things happen, but it's wild that it was in Variety; it's weird." C'mon Shia, fess up -- Spielberg and Lucas have taken your entire family hostage and warned you not to say anything about Indy 4 ... or else. Keep in mind, just because the kid says he's not in negotiations doesn't mean there's no talk going on behind the scenes. There's a good chance he was asked (either by his management or by Spielberg and Lucas) to keep his mouth shut no matter what. Once he admits to "the talks," then that just opens another can of worms. I mean, I'd like to think Variety had a pretty good source for their story; there's no way they simply reported on a bunch of internet rumors, right? Because, if they did, I'm sure they would've credited the website responsible ...
