Since casting rumors for the next Star Trekfilm are running rampant, here's a bit of info straight from the horse's mouth, or at least one of the horses. William Shatner and his daughter host an online video show through which can also be seen at the Trek star's official website (thanks to Cinemablend for pointing this one out). When asked about his meeting with Star Trek XI's director and producer J.J. Abrams, Shatner confirms that he and Leonard Nimoy met separately with Abrams and "nothing really occurred as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure with Leonard as well."

He describes the meeting as an "exploratory talk" and states that he has no idea what the script is about. If Abrams were to ask Shatner to play any kind of role in the new film, the actor states that since production is expected to begin in the fall it would conflict with his current work schedule, though he does not dismiss the notion entirely. "As for my wanting to be in it, I think that would be cool, but it would have to be meaningful." There's also some entertaining banter about how Shatner likes to attract stares at airports by flipping open his cell phone and talking into it like a 23rd century communicator. Yeah, I have to admit that would probably stop me in my tracks.
