They might as well reserve Sean Penn's seat at the Oscars now.

Sean Penn has taken his fair share of abuse for biting into Oscar bait when choosing roles: See, most recently, the "full retard" convo that caused so much controversy in 'Tropic Thunder.'

'Milk' could easily be construed as another such selection: Penn plays Harvey Milk, the first openly gay mayor of a major U.S. city, who was assassinated in 1978 by a bitter San Francisco political rival (Josh Brolin). But judging from this trailer, 'Milk' promises be an intriguing film that's bolstered by a signature Penn performance, rather than one that exists solely as a platform for it.

That said, we're putting our money on Penn to score his fourth Oscar nom. Care to wager?
