brian fuller heroes departureTV Squad tells us that Bryan Fuller is leaving NBC's Heroes for the second time. The writer-producer – responsible for some of the show's best episodes from season one and season three – is now focusing on developing new projects as part of a deal with Universal Media Studio. Fuller left Heroes after season one but returned earlier this year after the cancellation of his quirky ABC drama Pushing Daisies.

Fuller was quick to tell Entertainment Weekly that his departure was not due to creative differences with Heroes creator Tim Kring. "It was just too hard to [juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give," he said.

Sucks for Heroes, and fans of that show. But here's the upside: Fuller is probably working on a new show (or shows?) for NBC. A major network striking a development deal with a great sci-fi/fantasy writer-producer is always cause for celebration around here. So what can we expect from Fuller's future projects?
