You don't need me to tell you that horror remakes are the hot, hot thing right now ... and with The Wolfman and Twilight making werewolf an industry buzzword again, it's no surprise that Dimension Films would look at remaking An American Werewolf in London. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that John Landis has sold the remake rights to his classic werewolf thriller to Dimension Films, and that the Weinsteins are getting a remake underway as we speak.

I think it's unfortunate that the best DImension can do is remake London ... surely there are other cities in need of werewolves. If you must visit the UK again, at least set that werewolf loose in Edinburgh or Glasgow. But I really love to see An American Werewolf in Moscow or Prague. Isn't it time for the werewolves to go back to Eastern Europe, and away from the Twilight town of Forks? (And yes, I've seen American Werewolf in Paris, but I'm trying to be positive here!)

Now let's see what Scott Weinberg has to say ...

"You know me. I'm feverish about the classics and open-minded about the remakes. And it'd be woefully ignorant to trash a project without knowing who the writer / producer / director will be. Having said that, I'll also say this: If this story proves to be accurate, Dimension better tread real carefully here. There are FEW horror flicks as powerfully adored as AWIL, and the fans will demand excellence. Good luck!"
