My pal Brian Solomon summed it up nicely: From now on, whenever someone claims to be a horror newbie and they'd like to know where they should start, I'm going to refer them to this link. (Don't click it. It'll just bring you back here.) How do I know I've got a surefire rock-solid and virtually inarguable list of the 35 "most essential" horror films of all time? Well, because a bunch of horror geeks (and websites) got together and posed that precise question: Your top 10 "most essential" horror films. And the list we've come up with, dare I say, pretty darn excellent. (I'd think so even if I weren't a voting member, so nyeah.)

I'll include my own Top Ten after the jump, but here is the overall Top 20. For the full 35, you'll simply have to click right here and visit the Vault of Horror. Because that's Solomon's horror blog and it was his idea to begin with. While you're there ask him why he cut the list off at 35 instead of 50. ;0)
