[Welcome to the Sci-Fi Lunch Break, where we'll be supplying you with a cool bit of audio/visual goodness to break up the monotony of the work day. You bring the turkey on rye, we'll bring you something out of this world to watch while you eat it.]
If, like me, you felt that Shane Acker's feature length 9 worked far better as a short-form bit of eye and ear candy, then you are sure to appreciate this music video for "Flashing Red Light Means Go" by the British band The Boxer Rebellion. The music itself sounds like a cross between '90s Radiohead and Muse, which is quite a treat in itself, but the real star here is the video from directors Grant Berry & Nick Tarte.
Clocking in at 3:31, it's a mind-pleasing, animated blend of retro-futurism that evokes the fonder sides of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and the aforementioned 9, without having to have a single human character. Check it out.
