Jerry Bruckheimer must be feeling pretty darn good about his upcoming Prince of Persia movie. He's producing another game-to-film adaptation, the turn-based strategy game Shattered Union. Science-fiction fan favortite J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Ninja Assassin) is onboard as screenwriter.

Shattered Union takes place in a splintered U.S., where the policies of divisive, unpopular president David Adams bring about large-scale civil unrest. In an extreme assassination attempt, Washington D.C. (along with Adams) is destroyed by a nuclear device, leading the European Union to step in and manage the situation. The states then secede in rapid order, forming their own territorial governments and militias, and fighting against each other for the ultimate control of what was once the United States of America.

PopTop/2K Games' Shattered Union was released in 2005 for PC and X-Box. There's no director on tap yet for the politically charged action-thriller, but look for an announcement soon.
