Retail giant Walmart is attempting to steal your soul corner the death market by offering caskets, urns and memorial jewelry on its website, This move follows a similar one made by fellow discounter, Costco, who also sells funeral products on their site.

The caskets come from Star Legacy Funeral Network, Inc. and range in price up to about $2,000. Walmart ships the caskets within 48 hours and allows people to pay for them over a 12 month period with no interest. Returns are not accepted unless the product has been damaged during shipping. Since Walmart boasts being a one stop shop, you can also purchase urns for your dearly departed pet and funeral flower arrangements from the company's site.

The caskets are listed under the 'For Your Home' category, oddly enough. Each one is uniquely (and hilariously) named something like 'Lovely in All Ways', 'Executive Privilege' and 'American Patriot'.

The cost of Walmart's caskets may rival that of many funeral homes but I suspect funeral directors will be able to keep their jobs. Though the retailer can offer discount prices, there's no replacement for human contact and compassion.
