Amphibious 3D is a forthcoming monster flick from Brian Yuzna, the mastermind behind films such as Rottweiler and Bride of Re-Animator. While I'm not usually too keen on these types of films (I was heartbroken Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus was a giant vortex of camp and suck, despite it being an Asylum film), I am slightly intrigued for two reasons. One, it's in 3D, which I normally detest but feel that if any sub-genre can benefit it, it's one that focuses on giant animals who want to kill you; and two....well....

Three words: Giant Aquatic Scorpion.

A few more words, courtesy of Arrow in the Head: "It's basically about a giant aquatic scorpion that is conjured by black magic and terrorizes Indonesia. Dig it.

Dig it, indeed, good sir.

The film and its 3D technology was made all the more appealing thanks to the excellent blog Undead Backbrain, who scored some excellent pics of the film. Amphibious 3Dis filmed in "Stereoscopic 3D, polarized for TH release in Real D / Dolby 3D and will also be available in anaglyph and interactive polarized shutter for video release." I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to the technical aspect of cinema, but all those big words must mean it's, awesome, right?

A couple of pics, including one of the titular scorpion can be found behind the cut, while the rest can be found here. Amphibious 3D stars Michael Paré, Janna Fassaert and Francis Magee, and is set to be released in May of 2010.
