He's the best there is at what he does, and what he does isn't pretty. At least, that's how Wolverine's catchphrase goes, but Sideshow Collectibles is making a pretty good argument that what he does is actually very pretty. Pre-sales started today for their stunning new Wolverine premium action figure, but don't think of those cheap plastic Marvel figures crowding the pegs of Wal-Mart in the early 90's. This thing is basically a 17-inch, individually hand-painted poseable statue in a fabric and real leather costume, perfect for going all berserker rage on your mantle.
The figure is being released in two formats--a masked version and a version with an interchangeable unmasked head. The "two-headed" figure sold out almost instantly, but Sideshow is still taking orders on the masked Wolverine, at a premium price of $289.99. Is it worth it? As an action figure, probably not, but with the amount of care and detail that goes into each figure, you really have to treat it like you're buying a real work of art. The $289.99 price tag is suddenly a lot more justifiable. Yes, it's Wolverine, but you're cultured now because you just bought an art piece. Good luck explaining that to your starving children.
