The Sundance Film Festival, perhaps the most important and influential showcase for cinema in America, announced details today for their upcoming annual gathering, including new rules, new categories and, most importantly of course, new movies.

As reported in Variety, the festival, founded by Robert Redford, is scheduled to run January 21-31 in Park City, Utah. For this outing, Sundance will expand to include events in major markets around the country, with films slated to be screened in eight cities on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 28. Participating venues will be in Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville and San Francisco as well as smaller markets Ann Arbor, Mich. and Madison, Wis.
