This week, Lucasfilm sent out their 2009 Holiday cards to their employees, in the form of a mock cookie tin that opens to reveal gingerbread depictions of classic Star Wars characters. The yearly card is a long-standing tradition at Lucasfilm since 1977, and although the first company-wide Holiday card didn't feature a single Star Wars reference (just a blimp flying over the Hollywood sign), subsequent cards have mined their classic characters to great effect, from many of the fine artists at ILM, including the late, great Ralph McQuarrie.

You can see the full set -- thirty years worth of cards -- here, but you can see a gallery of my personal favorites below. The art on many of these is simply gorgeous, and it's a shame they've never been available on a consumer level, whether as Christmas cards or fancy art prints.
