[Welcome to the Sci-Fi Lunch Break, where we'll be supplying you with a cool bit of audio/visual goodness to break up the monotony of the work day. You bring the turkey on rye, we'll bring you something out of this world to watch while you eat it.]
My attention span for single player video games has been lacking for a year or two now. I don't know if it has to do with the increasingly limited amount of time I have to devote to games these days or if I have prematurely developed an old man's case of "they don't make 'em like they used to", but I rarely see a single player game to its end these days. The one stand-out exception to this general rule, however, was the brilliant 2007 sc-fi RPG Mass Effect. There was just something about taking on the role of galaxy explorer Commander Shepard that completely brought out the younger me who was eager to explore every facet of its rich, virtual world.
I full expect to be equally engrossed by Mass Effect 2 when it hits retailers on January 26th (PC and 360 only, sorry WiiPS3'ers) based on the game's pedigree alone, but even if I hadn't already fallen prey to its siren song, this new trailer would have easily won me over. Sure, it's gameplay free, but as a cinematic, it's a nice run down of the crew Commander Shepard will be employing this time around, giving ME2 a rebellious 'men on a mission' vibe I can't wait to dive into.
