Quirk Classics are really carving out a name for themselves with their bizarre mash-ups of classic lit with incongruous horror and fantasy elements. After the massive success of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (coming soon to a theatre near you?) and Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters, the publishers are tapping writer Ben H. Winters to pen a science-fiction spin on Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, titled Android Karenina.

In Tolstoy's novel, Anna is torn between a life of respectable motherhood and a passionate affair. Quirk promises all of this and cyborgs. Also, robot butlers. And space travel. Plus steampunk automatons. Basically, the kitchen sink.

Android Karenina will hit bookstores in June of 2010, just in time for beach readin'.
