I grew up on three major horror franchises. Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Puppet Master. While Jason and Freddy were all well and good, Puppet Master, at least the first three in the series, had an odd appeal about them that somehow hooked me in. Although technically wicked in the first two installments, the puppets can be considered good in their own weird way as the third film, which is considered a prequel, features the magically-charmed puppets killing Nazis for revenge. As the series progressed, the puppets were more or less the good guys, killing demons and serving as protectors. After a reboot, two more sequels, and even a film not considered to be part of the Puppet Master canon, Full Moon Features finally has a release date for the tenth installment, called Puppet Master: Axis of Evil.

As Arrow in the Head reports, the film will be released on June 15th and will be directed by the man who brought us Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge almost twenty years ago. The plot more or less picks up where part three left off, and features the puppets - Blade, Leech Woman, Pinhead, Jester, Tunneler and more - wreaking havoc on the "Axis of Evil." The film stars Levi Fiehler, Jenna Gallaher, Taylor M. Graham, Tom Sandoval and Jerry Hoffman, and is written by Charles Band, the man behind the franchise.

If you have no interest in this I will just presume you're crazy and be on my merry way. But before you write it off, watch the trailer, which can be found after the cut. I must echo the sentiments of Arrow when he says it looks to be very much in the same vein as the original three films, and even includes the theme song, a beautiful and sinister sounding waltz that is absolutely perfect for the puppets' almost child-like nature. Part three was the first Puppet Master film that I really dug, so Axis of Evil picking up where it left off makes me just want to crap myself in excitement.
