Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black ('Milk') will reportedly pen a biopic based on the life of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.

Pajiba is reporting that the film will be developed by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment, with casting decisions yet to be determined.

The film will reportedly follow the controversial career of Hoover, who first gained fame in the '30s for tracking down gangsters, or the "public enemies," as they were known. (If this at all sounds familiar, that may be because actor Billy Crudup played Hoover in Michael Mann's 2009 film, 'Public Enemies.')
