As a lover of all things Nazi zombie, I've been keeping a close eye on Shaun Robert Smith's new film, The 4th Reich. Early news about the project has been nothing short of impressive, with claims that the film isn't so much a zombie movie set during World War II as it is a World War II movie with zombies, leaving me eager to see the film's final cut. That won't be happening anytime soon, but casting on the project continues--and today Dread Central is reporting that a very big name was added to the character sheet.

Doug Bradley, best known to genre fans as Pinhead in Clive Barker's Hellraiser series, has enlisted with the production. Bradley will tackle the part of SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Gast in the film, and will join fellow actors Tom Savini, Sean Pertwee, and Axelle Carolyn in the horror period piece.

The film's tale finds the soldiers of a small brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division fighting through the French countryside. Events get stranger with each step of their journey--and eventually they wind up at an abandoned research facility. There, they encounter some of Dr. Joseph Mengele's experimental army of invincible super soldiers. I'm guessing they're zombies...

We'll be bringing you more The 4th Reich goodies as they become available. In the meantime, why not cruise by the official site and poke around a bit?
