Peter GravesPeter Graves, who starred in the 'Airplane' movies as well as TV's 'Mission: Impossible,' died outside his home in Pacific Palisades, Calif., of an apparent heart attack after having brunch with his family. He was 83.

Though he achieved early fame and the most critical accolades for his iconic role as Jim Phelps on 'Mission: Impossible' (winning a Golden Globe Award in 1971), younger generations are likely to remember him as Capt. Clarence Oveur in 'Airplane' and 'Airplane II: The Sequel.'
