The casting news has moved at a breakneck pace in recent weeks regarding 'Captain America: First Avenger,' Marvel's latest big screen comic book adaptation. First, we heard that John Krasinski was "very likely" to play the role. Then, just as Hugo Weavingbegan talks to play the villain, Red Skull, we heard that poor Jim Halpert was out.

Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Channing Tatum ('G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra') has been added to the list of possible actors who may play Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. Others being considered for the role are Ryan Phillippe, Garrett Hedlund ('Tron Legacy'), Wilson Blethel, Mike Vogel and Chris Evans.

When asked about the rumors last April, Channing told Inside Movies, "I would play Captain America. But I think there's someone else up for it, and I think that actor is a jillion times bigger and probably better for it. I've heard that Will Smith was toying around with it. But I would love to play Captain America, I dig his story."
