When Michael Bay said that he wanted more characters and more emotion in his third installment of the Transformers series last November, he wasn't kidding. Bypassing the usual trades announcement, Bay went to his website to announce the new deets on Transformers 3. They'll shoot everywhere from Florida to China, with pre-shoots starting next month, and the shockers: "On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I've always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from Hangover and the Doctor from Knocked Up."

That's right -- 2-time* Oscar nominee Malkovich, Oscar-winning McDormand, and not-as-surprising funnyman Jeong. Perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised, since big-league actors entering crapfests is nothing new. If Peter O'Toole and Michael Caine can do it, why not these guys? Nevertheless, it's a shocker. Transformers 3? Malkovich and McDormand? My world is going all askew.

Right now, there's no word on who they'll play, and whether they'll get to be humans or voice machines. However, as JoBlo points out, it would be rather surprising to have these heavy-hitters only lending their voice. What do you think, dear Cinematical readers? Are you ready to see this trio in Transformers 3?
