Ever since exploding into film geek consciousness with a showstopping screening at last year's Butt-Numb-Athon, Matthew Vaughn's film adaptation of Kick-Ass has seized every marketing opportunity possible, unleashing a series of trailers, countless TV spots and a rain forest worth of posters. At this point, it's reaching the point of over-saturation, but a lot of people seem to think this film can be a big hit (and if the hype is to be believed, it will be).
I guess that's why I'm here to tell you that Apple Trailers has debuted trailer number four. It's a quickie, a little over a minute long, but it's a goodie, selling the film almost entirely on its action. It doesn't have the bloody mayhem of the red band trailer, but it does an excellent job showcasing punching, kicking and exploding. With a quirky moment or two.
After Kick-Ass opened SXSW this year, the response seemed a little more muted and mixed, but still very strong. Since I seem to be the only online writer who hasn't bore witness to this movie yet, I'll just grumble under my breath and watch the trailer again. You should, too.
