I wish I paid more attention to comics. I feel like an idiot when I come across something that I think is new and cool only to find out that its been old news for a while now. Take this trailer for the upcoming game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, for example. I had no idea that a Spider-Man Noir existed at all; I thought this was a brand new spin on the character.
It's not, of course (Marvel began the series last year, so it's not as though Marvel Noir is a long lost, buried treasure), but it's definitely new to me so excuse me while I get a little overly excited about seeing Spidey bust heads during the Great Depression. I love how gritty it looks, which I think is as much influenced by Noir as it is the success of Batman: Arkham Asylum, a title that proved superhero games can be just as dark and dramatic as their big screen counterparts. Plus it also combines my love for multiple universes with my love of noir stylings, a feat that hasn't really been done since The Thirteenth Floor.
